Alexander the Great acceded as the great Emperor of Macedonia in the year 336 B.C. at the age of only 20 when his father, Philip of Macedonia, was assassinated.

Great success and fame came to him only 3 years after that when he started his famous journey to Asia Minor and defeated the Persians at the battle of the Granicus. Alexander passed away on June 10th, 323 BC, at the age of 32 in Babylon.

The aim of this tour is to explore the route that Alexander followed within the first 2 years of his journey through Anatolia.

Day 1: Arrive at Istanbul and overnight in Istanbul. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, drive via Thrace and cross the Dardanelles to Canakkale. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight: Canakkale.

Day 3: Drive thru the Graenicus River, Dascylium and Zeleia. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at a local fish restaurant. Overnight in Canakkale.

Day 4: Visit Troy, then drive to Bergama and visit Pergammum Acropolis and Ascylepion. Lunch & dinner at a local restaurant. OVERNIGHT: Foca or Izmir.

Day 5: Visit Sardes. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Selcuk.

Day 6: Visit Ephesus and environs. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Selcuk.

Day 7: Visit Didyma, Miletus, Priene. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Selcuk.

Day 8: Drive to Kalkan via Aphrodisias. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel. (extension, out of Alexander s route) OVERNIGHT: Kalkan.

Day 9: Drive to Antalya via Xanthos, Myra & Phaselis. Cruise thru the Sunken City; Lunch on board. Dinner at the old city. OVERNIGHT: Antalya.

Day 10: Visit Perge, Aspendos. Lunch at a restaurant by the river. Dinner at the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Antalya.

Day 11: Morning flight Antalya-Ankara. Visit Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum, Gordion. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the citadel. OVERNIGHT: Ankara.

Day 12: Drive to Cappadocia visiting Ihlara Valley and Kaymaklý Underground city. Lunch at a local restaurant, dinner at the hotel. OVERNIGHT: Cappadocia.

Day 13: Visit Göreme Open Air Museum, Zelve Open Air Museum, Avanos, Uchisar. Lunch at a local rstaurant. Evening flight to Istanbul. OVERNIGHT: Istanbul.

Day 14: Visit St Sophia Museum, the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace. OVERNIGHT: Istanbul.

Day 15: Fly home.
